POSTECH PhD Students Yong-Hoon Song and Yoon-Sik Kim Win “Outstanding Student Paper Award” at the 2023 IEIE Summer Conference
PhD candidates Yong-Hoon Song and Yoon-Sik Kim from the Department of Electrical Engineering at POSTECH (advisor: Professor Yoon-Young Jung) received the Outstanding Student Paper Award at the 2023 Summer Conference of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEIE). The conference took place from June 28 to June 30 at the Lotte Hotel in Jungmun, Jeju Island.
Their paper, titled “Wearable Neck Microphone for Voice Measurement in Noisy Environments” (corresponding author: Professor Yoon-Young Jung), was recognized for its academic excellence.
The research team developed a wearable neck microphone capable of isolating the wearer’s voice in noisy environments. By employing a real-time adaptive filter, they successfully eliminated internal noise inherent in MEMS devices. This technology holds significant potential for enabling clear communication in various high-noise environments, such as factories, military settings, and construction sites.
