Professor Kyung-Tae Kim’s Research Team Wins “Outstanding Paper Award” at the 2023 KIEES Summer Conference
POSTECH Electrical Engineering students Min-Gon Cho (Master’s program), In-Hyuk Lee (PhD program), and Kyung-Min Lee (PhD program), under the supervision of Professor Kyung-Tae Kim, were awarded the Outstanding Paper Award at the 2023 Summer Conference of the Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science (KIEES). Their paper, titled “Study on SAR Image Super-Resolution Using Compressed Sensing,” was recognized for its academic excellence and innovative approach.
The paper demonstrated a method to enhance image resolution by applying the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) algorithm, a technique within compressed sensing, to increase the bandwidth of existing images. This approach was applied to SAR images captured by KOMPSAT-5, and the results showed improved azimuthal resolution, as verified through metrics such as PSLR, ISLR, and resolution. The academic contribution of this study was highly regarded at the conference.
