Professor Rok-Hyun Baek Receives “Excellence Award” at the 11th Industry-Academia Research Project Outstanding Invention Awards Ceremony

Professor Rok-Hyun Baek from POSTECH’s Department of Electrical Engineering was awarded the Excellence Award on October 31, 2023, at the SK hynix headquarters in Icheon, South Korea. The award recognized his innovative contribution to improving semiconductor manufacturing productivity through his patented AI technology, which quantifies the optimal conditions for semiconductor devices (transistors).

The awards ceremony was attended by key executives from SK hynix, including Vice Presidents Seon-Yong Cha (Head of Future Technology Research Institute), Yoon-Wook Kim (Head of Sustainability Management), and Yong-Soo Ha (Head of Intellectual Property), along with R&D Strategy Team Leader Joon-Soo Kim and five award recipients.

This annual award program, established in 2013, evaluates patents filed as a result of SK hynix’s industry-academia collaboration projects, rewarding outstanding inventions. It aims to boost researchers’ morale and encourage the development of high-impact patents.

Professor Baek’s achievement highlights the critical role of academia-industry collaboration in advancing cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.
