Yae-Eun Ko (Integrated PhD Program) Wins “Outstanding Paper Award” at the 2023 KIPE Fall Conference
Yae-Eun Ko, an integrated PhD program student from POSTECH’s Department of Electrical Engineering (advisor: Professor Soo-Yong Cha), received the Outstanding Paper Award at the 2023 Fall Conference of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics (KIPE). Her paper, titled “Online Capacitance Estimation Method for Parallel DC-DC Converters Using Beat Frequency Components,” was recognized for its innovative approach and practical applications.
Research Highlights
The paper proposed a novel method to estimate the capacitance and equivalent series resistance (ESR) of parallel DC-DC converters operating at different switching frequencies. By utilizing beat frequency components through the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT), the proposed technique eliminates the need for external signal injection, offering an efficient and practical solution.
This method is expected to have significant potential for expanding applications in power conversion systems for renewable and distributed energy sources, enhancing the reliability and performance of these systems.
This recognition underscores POSTECH’s commitment to advancing power electronics technologies and fostering innovative solutions for next-generation energy systems.
