Wonhyeong Heo (Master’s Program), Receives “Honorable Mention” at IEEE APS/URSI 2024

Huh Won-hyung, a master’s student in the Department of Electrical Engineering at POSTECH (supervised by Professor Hong Won-bin), received an “Honorable Mention” in the Student Paper Competition at the 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (IEEE AP-S/URSI).

His paper, titled “Implementation and Applications of Antenna Utilizing Hinge of Foldable Mobile Device,” proposes enhancing antenna performance in folding and unfolding conditions by implementing an antenna within the hinge of a foldable device. The study introduces the Antenna on Display and Simultaneous Radiation methods, with experimental results validating the performance improvements. The innovative approach and superior performance of this research were highly regarded, leading to the “Honorable Mention” recognition.

The 2024 IEEE AP-S/URSI, the world’s largest international symposium in the field of antennas and propagation, organized by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society, will be held in Florence, Italy. This year, the Student Paper Competition received a total of 314 submissions, with Huh’s work standing out to earn the Honorable Mention.
