Kihun Nam (Ph.D. student) has been selected as an “Outstanding Student Researcher” at the 8th K-CHIPS Awards.

Kihun Nam, a Ph.D. student at POSTECH’s Department of Electrical Engineering (advisor: Prof. Rokhyeon Baek), has been selected as an “Outstanding Student Researcher” at the 8th K-CHIPS (Korea Collaborative & High-tech Initiative for Prospective Semiconductor Research) Awards. He received this recognition for his work on the project “Development of High-Mobility Channel/Dielectric Materials for Ultra-High Density 3D NAND Memory and AI-Based Large-Scale Analysis Platform” under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, the Korea Institute for Industrial Technology (KEIT), and the Korea Semiconductor Research Consortium (COSAR).

The K-CHIPS Awards are given to student researchers participating in the Ministry’s semiconductor talent development project, with the aim of strengthening their capabilities and motivating them. Awardees are selected based on the impact of their research contributions to the project. This year, the award was given to seven outstanding research institutions out of the 94 participating in the project, and Professor Baek’s research team has been recognized for six consecutive years, having received awards in the 3rd to 7th editions of the K-CHIPS Awards.
