Jaewon Yoon and Sihyun Ha (Integrated M.S.–Ph.D. students) from the Department of Electrical Engineering at POSTECH (advisor: Prof. Yosep Jeon) have been selected for the 2025 Academic Research Support Program for Science and Engineering, funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).

The program supports creative and challenging research projects led by graduate students in science and engineering fields, with the goal of strengthening the capabilities of future researchers. Projects are selected through a rigorous evaluation process based on the originality of the research proposal and its potential academic contributions.

Jaewon Yoon was selected for the Doctoral Research Fellowship track, where he will conduct research titled “Optimization of an Anti-Jamming Framework for OFDM Systems through Deep Learning-Based Jamming Pattern Prediction.” He will receive KRW 25 million in research funding over one year.

Sihyun Ha was selected for the Master’s Research Fellowship track, where he will conduct research titled “Communication-Efficient LoRA Techniques for Federated Fine-Tuning of Foundation Models.” His project will receive KRW 12 million in research funding over one year.

Notably, the Wireless Communication and Machine Learning Laboratory led by Prof. Jeon also had two students selected in the 2024 NRF Academic Research Support ProgramPh.D. student Yongjeong Oh and M.S. student Jaehong Cho—making this the second consecutive year that multiple students from the lab have been selected for the program.
