Prerequisite: EECE374 Microprocessor architecture and application
This class addresses solid state disk (SSD) which is gaining more attention as main stream storages. We will study the operation and power/performance/reliability characteristics of NAND Flash memory and high- performance/reliability and low power SSD design methods.
In addition, we will study phase change RAM (PRAM) which is considered to be a promising emerging memory technology. We will investigate the feasibility of applying PRAM to the main memory.
