[ 수상 ]Hanjun Park (Undergraduate Student) Wins Bronze Prize at the 43rd National Undergraduate Mathematics Competition

Hanjun Park, an undergraduate student in the Department of Electrical Engineering at POSTECH (Class of 2021, Advisor: Prof. Dongyup Na), received the Bronze Prize in Division II at the 43rd National Undergraduate Mathematics Competition organized by the Korean Mathematical Society.

The competition is held annually to evaluate mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities among undergraduate students nationwide and to identify outstanding young talents in mathematics. The 2025 competition took place on November 1, with the official results announced on December 3. Participants were evaluated in two divisions, Division I and Division II.

As an electrical engineering major, Park demonstrated strong mathematical foundations and logical reasoning skills essential for engineering studies, achieving an outstanding result in Division II and earning the Bronze Prize. His achievement highlights how the solid mathematical training required in electrical engineering can translate into success in national-level academic competitions.

Meanwhile, students from POSTECH’s Department of Mathematics also achieved notable results in the competition. In Division I, Minjun Kim (Class of 2023, Advisor: Prof. Bokwang Jeon) received the Silver Prize, while Kwangwoon Baek (Class of 2024, Advisor: Prof. Bokwang Jeon) earned the Bronze Prize, demonstrating exceptional mathematical talent.

This achievement serves as an encouraging example that electrical engineering students can actively participate in and succeed at national mathematics competitions, and is expected to inspire more students in the department to take interest in and participate in various academic competitions.
