[ 수상 ]Beomhyun Kim (Integrated M.S.–Ph.D. Student) Receives 1st Prize Best Student Paper Award at IEEE iWAT 2023
Beomhyun Kim (Integrated M.S.–Ph.D. student) and Dongseop Lee (Integrated M.S.–Ph.D. student) from the Department of Electrical Engineering at POSTECH (advisor: Prof. Wonbin Hong) received the 1st Prize Best Student Paper Award at the 2023 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT).
The IEEE iWAT is a leading international conference organized by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (IEEE AP-S), where researchers share the latest advances in antenna technologies, including antenna design, advanced electromagnetic materials, compact antennas, medical antennas, millimeter-wave and terahertz technologies, and metamaterials. The 2023 conference was held in Aalborg, Denmark.
In addition, Myungjin Hwang (M.S. student) from the same research group received the 2nd Prize Best Conference Paper Award, marking the first time in the conference’s history that a single research group received both the first and second prizes in the student paper competition.
At the conference, the authors presented a paper titled “mmWave Mobile Devices with Reconfigurable Broadside and Endfire Radiation using Shared Aperture Antenna-on-Display and Antenna-in-Package.” The study proposes a novel antenna structure in which Antenna-on-Display and Antenna-in-Package technologies share the same aperture, enabling compact device packaging while maximizing coverage efficiency in the millimeter-wave band. The proposed design was integrated into a millimeter-wave commercial device and experimentally validated.
The research was highly recognized for its originality, innovation, technical significance, and potential impact on the antenna and propagation community, leading to the Best Student Paper Award.
