Dr. Bumun Jung, a Ph.D. graduate of the Energy Systems Laboratory (ESL) in the Department of Electrical Engineering at POSTECH (Advisor: Prof. Youngjin Kim), has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Changwon National University, beginning in January 2026.

During his doctoral studies at POSTECH, Dr. Jung conducted research on power electronics and motor control under the supervision of Prof. Kim. Following his graduation, he worked as a Staff Engineer at Samsung Electronics in the Home Appliances Division.

Throughout his time at POSTECH, Dr. Jung demonstrated outstanding research capability and leadership, successfully carrying out several major research projects. He published four first-author papers in leading journals in the field of power electronics, including three papers in IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications. He also presented multiple research papers at major international conferences such as the IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC) and the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE).

At Changwon National University, Dr. Jung will teach courses in motor control and applications. His future research will focus on next-generation motor control technologies aimed at improving the performance and efficiency of motor drive systems and expanding high-performance, high-reliability motor applications.
