[ 기사 ]Semiconductor Technology Convergence Center Selected for the 2025 Glocal Lab Program
The Semiconductor Technology Convergence Center (CSTC) at POSTECH (Co-Director: Prof. Byunghoon Lee) has been selected for the 2025 Glocal Lab Program, a new initiative launched by the Ministry of Education to foster university-affiliated research institutes as regional research hubs. A total of 11 hub-type research centers were selected nationwide, including five in the Seoul metropolitan area and six in non-metropolitan regions.
As a selected hub institute, CSTC will receive KRW 13.5 billion in government funding over the next nine years. Leveraging its specialized infrastructure capable of large-area wafer fabrication of two-dimensional ultrathin films, CSTC plans to pursue several key objectives:
-
generating innovative research outcomes,
-
strengthening fundamental research, and
-
fostering the next generation of researchers.
In addition, CSTC will support regional industries in connection with the RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) program. Ultimately, the center aims to advance research toward the development and commercialization of ultrathin, large-area semiconductor materials.
With this selection, CSTC is expected to further strengthen its research capabilities and establish itself as a key university-affiliated research institute leading regional industrial development.
