POSTECH Integrated Ph.D. student Dongseop Lee from the Department of Electrical Engineering (First author, Advisor: Professor Wonbin Hong) received recognition for his excellent research at the 2026 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology held in Liverpool, UK, and was awarded the Best Student Paper Award Honourable Mention Certificate. 

This conference is an international academic event that shares the latest technologies and research achievements in the field of antennas and electromagnetic waves. A total of 122 papers were accepted, and among these, some papers selected as candidates for outstanding papers underwent the Best Student Paper Award evaluation. 

Dongseop Lee's paper, “Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Shared Aperture Traveling-Wave Antenna Using Hybrid Dual-Mode Floquet Excitation for Satellite ISAC Systems” was selected as a Student Paper Award candidate, and subsequently received an Honourable Mention, recognizing the originality and technical completeness of the research. This research is differentiated from existing structures by proposing a Traveling-Wave Antenna that simultaneously implements dual-band and dual-polarization operation in a single shared aperture structure, and by achieving efficient beam steering characteristics using hybrid dual-mode Floquet excitation. 

Notably, by proposing an antenna structure that considers the integration of communication and sensing functions (ISAC) required in satellite communication environments, it suggests the design direction for next-generation antenna systems. This achievement is the result of the research's excellence and competitiveness being recognized at an international academic conference, and it is considered an important example demonstrating the potential for future research expansion in antenna and electromagnetic wave application fields.
